How To Regain Your Energy After A Stressful Holiday Season
The holidays can be stressful for us all. Between trying to juggle activities, travel, your budget and everyday life the holidays can feel more like a nightmare.
This stress takes a toll on people. Many suffer from seasonal depression and anxiety this time of year and people usually get triggered by the pressure to make the most of the holiday season paired with less sunlight and less activity as the cold air takes over. I know, because I suffer from this myself.
Holiday stress can leave you worn down and stripped of your energy. As the new year begins, turn your sights on regaining your energy after the stressful holidays.
Here's where you can start:
Take some time to get active and move more. In the winter we have a tendency to cuddle up under the blankets, stay inside and not be active like we are in the warmer months. Get out of the house for a class at your local gym or find a fun workout video in the comfort of your own home.
All that sugar we consume during the holidays takes a toll on our bodies. A great way to make your body feel healthy and energetic again is to fuel it with healthy foods. Small changes like eating more produce and drinking plenty of water can boost your energy levels fast.
Pay attention to how much sleep you are getting.
Often during the stressful holidays, we don't get enough sleep and our health suffers from that stress. Take some time after the holidays wind down to relax and make yourself feel a bit better so you can bounce back and have more energy.
When you need a quick yet natural boost give essential oils a try.
Citrus is a great way to wake up you mind and find much-needed energy. Put some citrus or even peppermint oil in your diffuser for a quick
Try taking vitamins or supplements.
The holiday season falls along with cold. Between the cold weather and short days, it is easy to find yourself feeling a bit tired and under the weather. Take back your energy by replacing your dip in Vitamin D levels with a natural Vitamin D3 vitamin supplement that will help replace some of what you are missing out on by staying out of the sun.
Have a little fun.
Often the holidays are a lot of stress but they keep us going by keeping us busy. When the holidays end we have a tendency to get bored, tired, and depressed. Plan a fun outing with friends for after the holidays so you can keep busy at the end of the day.
Keeping the focus on yourself after the holidays is not selfish, so don't let anyone tell you otherwise. It's your time to reflect, reset, and recharge before the new year. And if you're struggling and have no idea where to start, check out my Self Care Success Kit!
