How To Stop Being Negative All The Time
Ever have those days (or weeks) where you just feel like crap? You know… the days where you don’t want to get out of bed in the morning and "adult?" I've been there more times than I'd like to admit.
As I've gotten older, I've realized one thing: You’re always in control of how you feel.
My life is completely different than it was a few months ago (let alone a few years ago) because I decided that it could be. I changed the way I looked at myself, my abilities, and my goals and I made the mental choice to not let the challenges and roadblocks become a brick wall that's standing between me and what I want.
When your mind is focused on the negativity around you, that's all you're ever going to see. All the bad “stuff” that happens will pull all of your focus towards it and blind you from what's really in front of you.
How can you try to better yourself when all you see is a disaster around every corner and always waiting for something bad to happen? You feel me... Good.
So, where do you start changing your mindset? It's the same as a 12 step program - You need to admit that your mindset sucks and that you actually want to do something about it.
Also, it’s important to recognize where the negativity is coming from, who is negatively influencing your thoughts and actions, and why you're letting it happen.
For example, if people are wronging you, try to identify if it’s REALLY happening or if it’s something you just perceive to be happening and start to set boundaries.
But first, you need to want to change your mindset and once you do, you will change your life.
How will you start to change your mindset and stop being negative all the time?
