So many people are dealing with stress and anxiety and you may be looking for alternative relief options in which you can use at any time. These alternative therapies are not meant to treat a medically diagnosed condition (please discuss this with your doctor), but used to supplement it.
I personally suffer from chronic stress and anxiety and yes, I'm on medication for it that was prescribed by my doctor years ago. However, as of late, I wanted to find something I could use while meditating or simply roll on my skin whenever those stressful, anxious moments arrive.
Since I became a doTERRA Wellness Advocate, I've been playing around with all of the oils and I find that these 5 listed below are great to help you deal with stressful and anxiety-filled times in a holistic way.
Here are 5 of the best essential oils for stress and anxiety and how to use them:
Clary Sage Essential Oil
Clary sage has long been used in helping to heal the symptoms of anxiety and stress. Due to its anti-inflammatory and sedative properties, this is a very relaxing essential oil that can also be used to heal pain from migraines. Mix eight drops of clary sage essential oil per ounce of carrier oil or water for diffusing or other aromatherapy methods.
Roman Chamomile Essential Oil
Chamomile is one of the best essential oils for stress and anxiety. It's an essential ingredient in many stress and anxiety remedies. Chamomile is a relaxant that promotes calmness. It also helps to keep away bad dreams and promote sleep. To use this essential oil, simply dispense by a diffuser. It can also be applied to the temples, the back of the palms, and the ankles for aromatherapy.
Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender oil is used in many different essential oil blends for reducing stress and anxiety. But, lavender essential oil can be used on its own for stress and anxiety relief, too. This is a great oil to use in a diffuser at bedtime. It can also be added to recipes for lotions and body creams for relaxing after a bath or shower.
Citrus Bliss Essential Oil
Lemon, grapefruit, and orange are all great essential oils for relieving stress and anxiety. Their sweet scent is only part of their effectiveness. These vital essential oils for stress and anxiety can be used alone or in any combination. Mix eight drops of each essential oil used per ounce of carrier oil or water. Then, use a diffuser to dispense these powerful oils fifteen minutes at a time up to twice per day when you need a pick-me-up.
Vetiver Essential Oil
Vetiver oil has been used as a natural antidepressant and mood enhancer. This makes it a great oil for relieving stress and anxiety. Vetiver can also be used as a sedative, so it's best used at the end of the day. Before bedtime for some relief from a stressful day, dilute vetiver with a carrier oil or water and dispense via a diffuser in the bedroom.
