Why You Need To Do Things Your Own Way
I have been known to be unconventional and very abrupt with so many decisions lately. But it's okay. I am at the point in my life where if I decide I'm not going to do something, I'm not going to do it. It's a simple as that. I cut myself off from it abruptly and move on. It's the only way that I can counteract the need to over think and over analyze the situation.
That's basically what I did with my business at the end of 2016. I was done dealing with all the hustle and bustle of maintaining my business that I wasn't aligned with because I felt scattered and confused to a point where I just didn't care anymore.
I felt as if I was sitting on Facebook all day long, scrolling through my news feed and through a million Facebook groups trying to find the right time to share whatever it was that I wanted to talk about that day. It was exhausting. I just kept scrolling and scrolling and eventually became too annoyed to post anything.
Maintaining my business became a chore. I constantly had to make sure I wasn't breaking any rules in the groups to promote myself and that made things even worse. I was afraid to share my message because I didn't want to say the wrong thing and get kicked out of the group or talked to by the admins. It didn't feel right.
So I quit... Well, I decided to hibernate for the winter. I realized that there was more to life than just what was right in front of me. I needed to take care of myself and then life would take care of me. After I did that, I felt like I was ready to try again.
When I walked away, it became apparent that I needed some time away from the noise to focus on what I wanted in my life. I needed ME time. And, all of 2017 was spent doing exactly that. I've reinvented myself, my business and the way I want to show up online and this blog is exactly what came from it.
I just needed to see things with my own eyes before I believed them. I needed to be completely lost to find myself again.
Here's the lesson that I want you to take away from this post... You are the only one who knows what you need in your life, what you want to do with your business, how you want to serve your clients, and where you want to be in the future... Life is process. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Take your time and figure out what you truly want.
How can you start doing that right now?
