An Honest Fabletics Review - Plus Size Edition
Being a plus size woman, I’m always skeptical of buying workout gear online because I really don’t know if their sizing is accurate. I always have trouble finding clothes that fit because I’m only 5’3” and curvy so the pants, capris, and leggings tend to be super long and the tops are usually too tight since I have somewhat of a larger bust. Needless to say, once I find a product that fits correctly, I buy one in every color and never look anywhere else.
As a former athlete, I’m used to wearing sportswear and I like to feel comfortable and confident in it. The items I usually purchase are from Walmart or Target due to the price point, but this time I decided to give Fabletics (a subscription service) a try. What is Fabletics? Fabletics is an activewear company co-founded by Kate Hudson. They offer a large variety of activewear including tops, sports bras, capris, leggings, etc. that range in size from XXS-3X. Fabletics differs from competitors in that they are a subscription-based company; customers have the option to shop as a guest at retail prices or sign up for their flexible membership program to receive discounts, exclusive merchandise, and more. Fabletics' membership is different than other subscription models in that it is a "flexible membership" – members have the option to shop every month or skip and not be charged as long as you do so between the 1st and 5th of the month.
When I initially looked at the January catalogue of products, I was pleasantly surprised. I immediately fell in love with the Bess Tank in the Mirage print and the High-Waisted Mesh Powerhold Leggings. I hate wearing lighter colors on the bottom of my body so the black leggings with some mesh was perfect and very stylish!
The Bess Tank is a beautiful gray tank with a floral design on it. The front looked like a normal tank and the back had an opening at the top. It was stylish and made of a lightweight mesh material. The only issues with the top itself was that the top hung a little low on my chest and the arm holes were a little too big but I can deal with that if I’m working out and have the proper sports bra on. Overall, it was a win!
The High-Waisted Mesh Powerhold Leggings did everything they needed to. At first, they didn’t look like they would even fit me, but as soon as I put them on, I fell in love. They had a high waistband that did exactly what it needed to and held everything in place. Inside of the waistband, there was a pocket for a key, credit card, or money if I was going to the gym without a bag (very functional if you ask me). However, my favorite part was the mesh accent on the bottom half of the legs and I was excited that the band on each leg actually fell where they should. I didn’t have to roll them up or worry about getting them caught on my sneakers.
Overall, I am very happy with the quality and the construction of both of the garments and would love to join their membership program to receive new items every month. There are plenty of options to choose from as a plus size woman and it's worth a try for anyone looking to incorporate new sportswear into their collection. This month you can get 2 pair of leggings for $24 – a $99 value - when you sign up for their flexible VIP membership program! If you'd like try their products for yourself, click here.
